A strong emphasis is devoted in Italy to create national and regional ecosystems able to trigger new and innovative products, services and technologies, for the benefit of the European competitiveness of agrifood in the world. Building a brilliant networks of startups, investors, researchers, educators and corporations is pivotal.

In several regional agri-food innovation hubs, state-of the-art knowledge and innovative ideas are being developed, creating food concepts that are ready to scale up.  

Startups that are ready to step up to next levels of maturity, can join the national challenge which selects the most promising startups. These qualify for the European finals in the FoodNexus Startup Challenge.

ALMA MATER STUDIORUM – UNIVERSITÀ DI BOLOGNA

Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna organises the first edition of the Italian challenge with the involvement of Barilla, Electrolux, Granarolo and ICA. The challenge is a FoodNexus project carried out by an enthusiastic team of Foodnexus Italian partners in view of demonstrating how entrepreneurship and innovation can solve societal challenges in agritech and food.

Università di Bologna has founded in March 2013 together with Unindustria Bologna the AlmaCube S.r.l. to help generate excellent and highly innovative start-ups, supporting young talents in successful business venture. AlmaCube will share its expertise and support the organization.
